芳念一、词义辨析不一样
1、department 指政府、学校、商业或医院里负责某一方面工作的“部门”“系”。作大学里的“系”解，在美国比在英国普通。

2、section?指物体、地方等划分出的部分，也可指结构、家具等整体中的部分。
〔例证〕There are two traffic police in the busy section of road.
交通繁忙的路段配备了两名交警。
二、词义广泛性不一样
1、department
读法：英?[d?'pɑ?tm(?)nt]美?[d?'pɑrtm?nt]?
释义：n. 部；部门；系；科；局
2、section
读法：英?['sek?(?)n]美?['s?kn]?
释义：
1）n. 截面；部分；部门；地区；章节
2）vi. 被切割成片；被分成部分
3）vt. 把…分段；将…切片；对…进行划分
三、变形词不一样
1、department
只有复数： departments
2、section
第三人称单数： sections 复数： sections 现在分词： sectioning 过去式： sectioned 过去分词： sectioned
1、department：部;司;局;处;科。
2、division：区域;(机关,公司等的)部门。
3、section：部门;处;科;股;组。
部门范围大小依次是：division>department>section。不过有时是可以通用，而department比较常用一点。
